61. actually this is the way the overcrowded system works FOR EVERYBODY in L.A. showing once again how out of whack the 45 day sentence paris got for driving with a suspended license - which is the ONLY charge she went to jail for - actually was.

people need to come to terms with that and give credit where credit is due to paris.

you don't like how it works in L.A. ? - fine, then build more jail cells - lot's of them becasue for a city of 13 million people, people do not go to jail for misdemeanor traffic offenses when there are not enough jail cells avaialble to incarcerate serious repeat felons like drug dealers rapists and homicide offenders, yes even homicides!.

65. I just had to comment on the post from the person saying they were going to come to America and commit all sorts of crimes, and how America sucks and that Americans are two faced. How do you deduct that, from this one incident? Do you not see the outrage from other posters, most of whom are Americans? Don't group every American into the same group based on the idiots in Hollywood. That's not fair to the normal, non-DUI, drughead citizens. Yes, our justice system sucks, but that's not our fault, and there's no need to come on here and call us two faced because of what goes on in Hollywood. Most Americans aren't like that, and disapprove of that sort of behavior!

Well, let's see...in LA you've got the likes of OJ Simpson and Robert Blake, who both got away with murder, in my opinion...and then you have the Nicole's and Paris' who do spend at least 'some' time behind bars for their crimes, albeit laughable amounts of time. It's a warped justice system, to be sure.

But, when all is said and done, this doesn't affect 'my' life one iota and somehow, I'll find the strength to go on with my daily activities, just as I'm sure every other poster on here will do.

Now, if I lived in LA or Hollyweird, I'd probably have a different take on the situation...after all, my ass or the asses of my loved ones could very well be on the road the same time as some of these irresponsible twits...in which case I'd be pissed off beyond belief.

However, I live in the midwest around real people who, when they do the crime, they do the time....so, to the poster who blasted ALL of the US and its justice system, you are wrong. La La Land is the exception, not the rule. Don't let their screwed up justice system cast a bad light on the rest of us.

67. Well, I hate to brag but I told you so a month ago... I said Nicole Richie would be booked and released due to jail overcrowding! Remember Michelle Rodriguez?

Paris Hilton's "special treatment" (she was royally screwed!) was an anomaly, not the norm. Her 23-day jail stay was more than five times the average served by people in similar situations (driving with a suspended license and violating probation).

It's politics as usual, but the Hilton fiasco proved once again that Sheriff Lee Baca is untouchable. It was city attorney Rocky "the rich and powerful receive special treatment and yes, so did my wife" Delgadillo who pushed for more jail time for Paris, and look what happened to him!

I'm sure DA Steve Cooley has better things to do than go after the sheriff, or Nicole or Lindsay for that matter. You pick your battles!

Not so sure about La La Land being the exception to the rule. I don't live in LA or in California, and the number people who get away with multiple DUIs without any jail is shocking. These usually are people who can afford good lawyers, from what I've seen. Plus they go to rehab. Of course.

Heck, we have "mandatory" jail sentences for second-time offenders im my state, and it's a joke. I met a guy who never did more than a few days in jail until his 9th DUI! I have a freind (now sober for over a year!) who was arrested four times for DUI, drunk each and every one of these four times, had great lawyers and never did a minute in jail.


Jax, I'm glad where you live people with multiple DUIs actually serve their time. I just wish that were true everywhere. The sad truth is that no one even pays attention to these multiple offenders and their lack of jail time until they kill or main someone.

71. I'd say this is a joke if it wasn't so serious. How many FIRST OFFENDERS, not just here in La La land, are behind bars right now vecause they had a public defender instead of a team of suits at 500 an hour? And Lohan? Cocaine IN HER SYSTEM AND ON HER PERSON??? That one is SO wrong I'm afraid all I can do IS laugh. These two women should still be in jumpsuits at the Lynwood Hilton.

Why do they choose the celebs to let out early? What about another inmate who had done less who had been there longer? Why couldn't she/they have been let free and Nicole stay her 4 days?

This is making L.A. look like a JOKE. A true laughing stock!

These bimbos who keep drinking and driving are going to kill someone with their cars one day and my prayers go out to those families.............. Just think, possible accidents could have been prevented with a little "JUSTICE".

74. Her legal name is Nicole Camille Escovedo, and yes, she is part hispanic/latina/mexican..whatever term you wish to use.....intriguing that

1. the police arrest report from LA County indicates her race as BLACK ("B).
as Black/ of Hispanic Origin....
no matter how blonde she tries to be, race is undeniable....
and
2. Nicole was in therapy for much of her childhood...
her early life must have been rough..
and then Lionel Richie and his wife adopted her...
but, they obviously missed the boat on trying to give a her normal life.......

she must have some serious troubles deep inside.
